Le groupe black métal Cradle of Filth
se forme en Angleterre en 1991 avec Dani au chant, Paul
Ryan à la guitare, Ben Ryan au clavier, John Richard
à la basse et Darren à la batterie. Le groupe
enregistre deux démos Invoking the unclean et Orgiastic
pleasures avant que Robin ne remplace John Richard et
que le guitariste Paul Allender ne rejoigne la formation.
Une troisième démo est enregistrée
avec, cette fois, Nicholas Baker à la batterie.
Suit en 1994 le premier album intitulé The Principle
of Evil Made Flesh. Cradle of Filth connaît encore
quelques changements de line ups avec le départ
des frères Paul et Ben Ryan laissant leur place
à Stuart et Damien. En 1996, le groupe signe un
mini album Vempire or dark faerytales in Phallustein qui
précède la sortie de l'album Dusk and her
Embrace. Peu après, Damien est remplacé
par Les Smith avant la sortie de Cruelty and the Beast
(1998) et de From the Cradle to Enslave (1999). En 2003,
Cradle Of Filth signe Damnation and a Day.
